Lindbergh Elementary Principal's Message

Lindbergh Elementary School

A Message from the Principal

It is hard to believe that the 1st marking period and 1st trimester are over.  I am proud of the progress that our students have made so far this year.  Congratulations to the 5th & 6th grade students who made honors.   Students who made Principal’s List were treated to a special breakfast on December 7, 2017.

During the early part of the year our students engaged in many exciting learning experiences.  Since New Jersey adapted new science standards, rigor and expectations have increased. Students are having fun with hands-on activities in science.  In mathematics, the focus is on mastery and deep understanding of skills and concepts.  Students are expected to solve challenging word problems and explain the answers in their math journals.  While in language arts, students are enjoying reading and writing using the workshop model.

Our teachers have also been engaged in numerous professional development activities to help your children achieve the expected goals while raising engagement. Teachers continue to learn in our Professional Learning Community, afterschool meetings and outside workshops.

Students participated in many enjoyable and educational events such as Student Council Elections, Week of Respect, Red Ribbon Week, fire safety instruction, a costume parade, Turkey Trot, the 50th day of school, Polar Express, and the PTA Holiday Boutique. The School Safety Team hosted a Family Movie Night for all 3rd and 4th grade students.  Some of our 1st and 2nd grade students sang at the town Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony and the Winter Concert was a great success enjoyed by all.

Lastly, regular attendance and punctuality are the basis to a sound educational experience.  Students who are absent or late miss out on valuable instructional time.  We wish to instill a sense of accountability and dependability in our children.  We need your support to do so.

Warm regards for a happy and healthy New Year.

Toni Bongard, Principal
