NJ Seal of Biliteracy Recipients 2018-2019

NJ Seal of Biliteracy is a special recognition awarded by The New Jersey Department of Education to celebrate graduating high school students who have successfully demonstrated a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, listening and writing in one or more World Languages, in addition to English.

Jesus Godinez and Isabel Alexis in grade 11 were awarded The NJ Seal of Biliteracy. They have successfully demonstrated that they are able to speak, read, listen and write in Spanish and Italian. Congratulations!!!

Korean Classes participate in NY Korea Society Workshop

Students of the Korean classes participated in the NY Korea Society workshop on May 15. They had a discussion about South Korea and North Korea with multimedia materials.
1) Section I: South Korea Today: Its Political, Economic and Diplomatic Rise, Relevance in the Global Arena, and Regional Leadership featuring (Dr. Stephen Noerper, Professor of Columbia University)
2) Section II: North Korea: Security, Human Rights, and Ways Forward featuring (Mr. Jonathan Corrado, Associate Director for Policy)
Students showed positive attitudes and expressed their curiosities about North Korea at the discussion table.

ESL Students participate in William Paterson Poetry Contest

Students of the ESL and World Language classes, under the supervision of Mrs. Amy Munn, participated in the William Paterson University Orlando Saa Poetry Recitation Contest on May 16. The students were passionate to share their love for language. They are from left to right Gisnaira Reyes, Felix Puluc, Katherine Lemus, Jessica Reyes, Valentina Ramirez Velasquez, Jiwon Lee, Seoyeon Amy Lee, Marianna Verdium, Isabel Alexis, Jasmin Catalan, and Pureun Oh. The students were accompanied by Mrs. Elsa Wajda and Mrs. Grace Ko. Valentina received Honorable Mention in the category for ESL beginning, Jasmin won First Place in beginner Korean, Pureun won Second Place for Advanced Korean and Jiwon won First Place for Native Korean. Congratulations to all the students!

PPHS Talent Show this Friday

The annual PPHS Talent Show will take place on Friday, May 17th at 7:00pm in the high school auditorium. Featuring students from 7th through 12th grade, the evening promises to be a night to remember! Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door and can be purchased from any class officer, manager, or advisor. All proceeds benefit the Classes of 2019, 2020, and 2021 and The Dramatic Arts Society.
