World Language and Multilingual Education (ESL/Bilingual) Department

The Palisades Park World Language and Multilingual Education Department is dedicated to fostering multilingual proficiency, academic excellence, and cultural awareness. Our mission is to equip all students with the linguistic skills necessary to thrive in a global society while providing targeted, high-quality support for our Multilingual Learners (MLs) to ensure their academic and social success.

World Language Program

Our World Language program provides students with the opportunity to develop fluency in new languages, enhancing their communication skills and global perspectives. The curriculum is designed to immerse students in authentic linguistic and cultural experiences, fostering a deep appreciation for diverse traditions. The Palisades Park School District currently offers Spanish, Korean, and Italian at various instructional levels (including Honors and Advanced Placement where applicable).

English as a Second Language (ESL) and Spanish Bilingual Program

The ESL and Spanish Bilingual Programs support Multilingual Learners (MLs) in acquiring the English language proficiency essential for academic achievement. We provide a structured, data-driven environment with specialized instruction focused on the four language domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Our Commitment

At Palisades Park, we believe that multilingualism is a significant academic and personal strength. We are committed to high-quality instruction, cultural inclusivity, and individualized support. Regardless of their linguistic background, we strive to empower every student to excel in their studies and become successful, empowered members of society.

Lindbergh Multilingual Parent Resource Night – May 7, 2026

The Lindbergh Multilingual Parent Resource Night was held on May 7, 2026, to support multilingual families and strengthen home-school partnerships. During the event, ESL/Bilingual teachers explained how families can effectively use the Home Engagement Kits to support language development, literacy, and learning at home. The kits were distributed to multilingual families who attended the program.

Families had the opportunity to ask questions, learn practical strategies for supporting their children academically, and connect with staff in a welcoming environment. Light refreshments and snacks were provided for all attendees.

The event was a great success and demonstrated the district’s continued commitment to supporting multilingual learners and their families. Special thanks to the ESL/Bilingual Department for organizing and facilitating this meaningful event.
