The Palisades Park Board of Education appoints a new Interim Superintendent and Board Secretary

The Palisades Park Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Carl Albano as Interim Superintendent of Schools for the 2025–2026 school year

Mr. Carl Albano brings more than 25 years of experience as a distinguished educational leader with a proven record of advancing student achievement, fostering innovation, and strengthening school communities. He recently completed a successful one-year term as Interim Superintendent of the Haldane Central School District in Cold Spring, New York, where he led the district through a period of transition and oversaw several major initiatives, including the launch of a $28.5 million capital project and the implementation of a new pre-kindergarten program.

From 2020 to 2024, Mr. Albano served as Superintendent of the Garrison Union Free School District, where his leadership yielded transformative results. He introduced a pre-kindergarten program, adopted a new mathematics curriculum, and expanded academic and performing arts opportunities. His emphasis on evidence-based reading practices and culturally responsive instruction contributed to exceptional student performance, with Garrison ranking among the top 3% of New York State schools. In 2024, The Garrison School was recognized as a U.S. Department of Education National Green Ribbon School for its innovative, district-wide integration of environmental and sustainability education—an initiative Mr. Albano championed.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Albano served as Superintendent of the Tuckahoe Union Free School District and held multiple leadership roles within that district, including Assistant Superintendent and Middle School Principal. He began his career in education as a fifth-grade teacher and has served in a range of administrative roles across the K–12 continuum. He is widely respected for his thoughtful leadership, collaborative approach, and unwavering commitment to student success.

Mr. Albano holds degrees from St. John’s University and Pace University and completed advanced studies in educational leadership at Iona and Fordham Universities. He is certified as a School District Administrator in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

We are confident that Mr. Albano’s expertise, insight, and steady leadership will serve the Palisades Park School District well during this important year. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Mr. Albano as he joins our school community.
