The Palisades Park Parent Teacher Association (ECC and Lindbergh) and Parent Teacher Student Association (PPHS) is a non profit organization composed of parents, teachers, and staff.  Our mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and our community to advocate for all children.  The number one reason to join our Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help the schools.  By getting involved, you’ll be part of our goal to make positive changes and opportunities for the children of the Palisades Park School District. 9/19/17 Meeting Minutes

September 19, 2017 – Meeting of the Executive Board

Attendance: Executive Board - Present – Mary Terranova, Melissa Morin, Mary DeBlasio, Jeffrey Boyce, Sandra Wrightington, Militsa Lombardo Absent – Rosa Morel, Carrie Eliopoulos, Sonny Chatterjee

Meeting called to order by President Mary Terranova at 6:45 PM

President’s Report

  • Welcome Back to a new year, looking forward to another successful fundraising year
  • We need more volunteers and non working parents to run daytime fundraisers

Administrators Report

  • Administrators not available for meeting, Mrs. DeBlasio gave a report from Mr. Donohue and Mr. Bott – Back to School Night, 9/14/17 was a success. Class meetings were held and new policies were explained. Fall sports season is underway and the home football opener is this Saturday. PPHS is now using an app to communicate with students. Thank you to the PTSA for supporting Heroes and Cool Kids.

  • Will represent PTA at Lindbergh Back to School Night
  • Request for PTA to donate fall decorations in front of school. All are in favor.

Teachers/Students Liaison Reports

Mary DeBlasio – P.T.S.A. Teacher Liaison

  • Will start working on memberships
  • PTSA teachers breakfast was a success. The teachers were appreciative.
  • Will make sure to communicate to the Principal’s that all funds donated toward Heroes and Cool Kids are to be put directly into that program as the funds come from the support of the Drug Alliance
  • Will communicate to Principal’s and PPHS staff that unfortunately the PTSA cannot financially help out at this time with sprucing up the quiet room in the HS.

Student Liaison’s

  • Need to appoint new student liaisons for 7th – 12th grades

New Business

  • Trunk or Treat on October 28th from 5 – 8 PM, Maria Rivera will coordinate this event. Request needs to go to the Mayor and Council to use the Lindbergh School Teachers parking lot, Lindbergh field and snack bar.
  • Need a DJ for Trunk or Treat
  • Need prizes for best costume and best trunk
  • Kidstuff books – No books this year, just flyers
  • Discussion on the possibility of a Halloween dance for adults at the Firehouse

Old Business

  • ECC teachers breakfast was a success
  • LS teachers breakfast will be on 9/22/17
